ITS ABOUT THE SHOES

I started with these shoes. Sometimes you find something fabulous and after you buy it, you sit on your bed at home with the box in your lap and think, What on Earth am I going to wear with this? So I went through my closet looking for an outfit that goes with the shoes.

The color pallette of the shoes is fairly flamboyant, but it's easy as pie to adjust the colors on my jewelry. I picked some green because the green on the shoes is really making me smile today.

The rest of the clothes are in warm tones similar to the Orange, Red and Pink of the shoe. I love the new pants, but a word about the sizing: as I tried on successively larger sizes of the pants, I got a larger and larger bum, but the size of the pant legs did not grow much at all. As you can see in the picture, I had to adjust my legs to be very thin. I suggest that you take a good look at this when you try them on at the store to be sure you like the fit.

NOSTALGIA

Nostalgia is more a styling choice today than an actual mood. I fell in love with Villena's simple Varsity Jacket. It brings up the feelings of a distant idealized past. Many people look back on the past longing for a lost time or place. I'd rather look forward, but I wish I had a clearer idea what to look forward to and what to wish for. I'm not an optimist by nature or experience but I still like to indulge in a little hope. Don't we all?

It isn't just a jacket. It includes several versions, male and female, the jacket alone or with several t-shirts built in underneath. All nicely designed. I managed to combine the mesh top and bottom by wearing the larger jacket with the very skinny version of Maitreya's jeans. I would have paid for jeans but these were a store gift! As it happens the "dirty" version was my favorite color.

I love Armada Breakaway! They have such a cute, quirky little community and mee likee the whole steampunky ethos already, so what's not to like about their treasure hunt? Gives me the perfect excuse to go visit again. I'm there! You should go too. :D

THEATRICALITY

After the film the doors open, and the lights come up ... (Okay, really I'm just having fun playing with lighting.) I wore casual-diva for this film screening. Perhaps afterward I should pause to give a few autographs?

A mix of old and new, but most of the older things are still for sale. This LeeZu blouse has somehow been hiding behind the closet door for a while.  I still like it even though it is not mesh, but a collection of sculpted prims. The fresh Illusory skin with neutral cosmetics is for sale this month at Collabor88. And still loving the fractal jewels by Elemental Earth Designs.

This set of Theater Seats with poses is delicious and there is a set up at Culture Shock so you can try it out before you purchase. The sits are very distinctive.

The detail on the seats is stunning. If you like vintage or period work this is a must-see at the Culture Shock venue. Perfect for watching silver screen classics.

SWANK

The HANDverk shop at Culture Shock has brought a collection of Bahaus furnishings and jewels that will tempt all those of you that love modern styled decor. My favorites here are the Wassily Chair, inspired by a Marcel Breuer design, and the lovely silver tea service (a gift!). These and the beautiful chrome and glass table and torchiere lamp are just catnip.

Yes, the chair is inspired by one of those expensive designs that you mostly see in a sleek corporate suite, or maybe Architectural Digest. But what really interests me about the chair is the Animation. The seat of the chair is angled, not flat, and the designer used the opportunity to include intriguing poses that take advantage of the seat angle. I'm showing a couple of my favorites, but there are seven male, seven female, and five couples poses.

CHINOISERIE

Since the seventeenth century, Chinoiserie in art and architecture has reflected the influence of oriental textiles and ornament. From there it went to fashion ... and never really left. And I'm so glad! The fabrics in this tote and slacks make me happy. I picked the blue shirt because it reminds me of Wedgwood blue, and makes this skin look like porcelain.

I added some cosmetics that I think are a little remeniscent of Geisha makeups. Just a little bit.

Altogether I think a modern casual redo of a classic idea. Most pieces shown available at the Culture Shock charity fundraiser. :D

ROSEY

Wearing this gown makes me giggle a bit, I feel like a debutante. Or maybe Eliza Dolittle.

But I'm doing my best to look all grown up and serious. It is a pretty thing isn't it? I especially feel fond of the hat.

Another lovely sweet bonbon that you can purchase at the Culture Shock venue to benefit Médecins Sans Frontières. Thank you for your help!

LOVE ARGYLE

I do love Argyle. Once I got on the texture kick I had some difficulty restraining myself from adding more. I'm not exactly sure where the line is between "enough" and "too much". I wanted to add La Gyo's new paisley necklace and earrings. Should I have? I like Paisley too.

No, I didn't go shopping for Yellow Argyle leggings. I already had them in my closet. :P

And I can't say enough about this hair. It's mesh and gorgeous and I plan to wear it with Japanese and Fantasy outfits too. I drooled all over the sexy curves of the ponytail and the avant-garde angled fringe. <3

AT THE SEAWALL

Walking on the seawall wearing a windblown spring gown ... actually, the skirt looks remarkably like it's caught in the wind, but it is a sculpted piece. The vivid color makes me feel like a fabulous stained-glass butterfly. The dress is Bliss Couture's beneift gown at the Culture Shock fundraiser.

I added these gorgeous peep-toe pumps from Your Skin and Your Shape. The shoes come with/without cute ankle socks and a texture-change HUD. I am showing the color that is the charity item, but there are many others. The shoe includes a full sculpted foot that joins at the ankle. The color of the skin matches the Roxanne skin perfectly right out of the box ... two thumbs up.
