A HOT MESS

Yes I'm a Hot Mess. I filed for divorce last week, and I am emotionally mentally and spiritually scattered. I've got to get it together. It doesn't leave a lot of energy for blogging but I need to pick myself up and get on with things. So here is what I have been wearing for a few days.



I also have to mention the sneakers. These Chucks are another new purchase over at Damien Fate's new shoe store. They include a HUD that changes to twenty-three different textures, all original artwork by Nylon Pinkney! This texture went with this outfit, but most of the others are in bright colors and I will certainly be wearing them again. :D

GOING QUACKERS

MISS AQUARELLE

I love this romantic frilly shirt from LIV Glam! It came with a punky little mini-skirt, but I had fun pairing it with a pencil skirt and revving it up with the studded look of this necklace and boots.

SIMPLICITY

Today I'm all cuddled up in minty goodness trying to warm up in advance of real spring. But really I'll admit that this outfit is all about this shirt. How do I love it? Let me count the ways. I love the way the unfolded cuffs come down over the backs of my hands, and how the collar is not exactly symmetrical. I love how the seamstress took the time with all the little details. I love how there is a strip of seam binding going around the inside of the collar where most people would hardly even notice it. I love the way that the folds lie around my waist and lower back, and the way the fabric pinches up at the shoulders. And all that is wrapped in a simple sweet minty print! *applause*



I added some spring pink details cause, well ... just because. And I have all this pink in my cheeks because I have been digging in my imaginary garden, getting soil ready for flowers. Of course my imaginary garden does not rudely put dirt all over my new pants. :P Now where did I put my gloves and spade?



Why yes, I do garden in high heels. Doesn't everyone?

KANJI

I was excited to see that NV has a shop in Vintage Fair this year. It isn't the first time I've tried one of their corsets. Last time I found one inspired by bengali tiger skin, of all things! And this season's designs are also luscious. This luxe model sits highlighted on the mannequin at the center of the shop. The red and gold kanji print made me want to stroke the silky fabric.



And I love the almost tactile leather texture on this evening clutch. Zenith's leather bag can be held in hand or dangled over your forearm.



I wore these new pieces over a couple of my favorite simple wardrobe staples, and added some dramatic golden earrings and wicked heels. Ready for a night on the town!

ITS ABOUT THE SHOES

I started with these shoes. Sometimes you find something fabulous and after you buy it, you sit on your bed at home with the box in your lap and think, What on Earth am I going to wear with this? So I went through my closet looking for an outfit that goes with the shoes.

The color pallette of the shoes is fairly flamboyant, but it's easy as pie to adjust the colors on my jewelry. I picked some green because the green on the shoes is really making me smile today.

The rest of the clothes are in warm tones similar to the Orange, Red and Pink of the shoe. I love the new pants, but a word about the sizing: as I tried on successively larger sizes of the pants, I got a larger and larger bum, but the size of the pant legs did not grow much at all. As you can see in the picture, I had to adjust my legs to be very thin. I suggest that you take a good look at this when you try them on at the store to be sure you like the fit.

Little Wednesday Addams has grown up. But you know her style is still ... unusual. She fell in love with this menacing necklace she found at the Tekeli-Li booth at the Fantasy Faire. It's quite a statement necklace, but what is it saying?

And the Identity corset is a lot like Wednesday; it looks soft on the outside, but has to be strong on the inside. The little ruffle around the bottom softens the severe black. (It looks really sexy in the back too. You should go try it on.)

I put on a reasonably low-prim and low-mesh outfit before popping over to visit Pose Fair, Starting with this eye-candy hat from Deco. From there I had to dress classy and vintage.

TWILIGHT IN AUTUMN

It's shameful how many lovely things sit in my closet unused, so I am wearing some old favorites along with the new bits.

The Aoharu turtleneck is not new but the simple narrow neck is perfect for layering under other collars and scarves. The Ingenue belt a gem. And the jewels by Alchemy Immortalis. Carefully crafted classics, that still compare beautifully with current art.

And the new: I love the graduated color on the Riddle skirt, and the sporty Mon Tissu hat. But the irresistable piece here is the skin. The new "Visitor" skins from Curio are amazing. There are several makeups that vary from almost-normal to unmistakably alien, including a set with otherworldly eyes and extra lipsticks. The face is unusually smooth and hairless, with small faintly pursed lips. (I added some eyebrows taken from an unwitting human donor.) I was severely tempted to give in and buy the megamultipak with like a zillion skintones, makeups and eyes, but ... :) darned budget.

MORNING WALK

Messing about with shadows and depth of field for the first time. (Jumping up and down like a three-year-old) I wanted to photograph some landscape which makes for little bitty pictures, but if you click them you'll see the larger pics on Flickr.

I wore a dark undershirt under the sweater to help you see the detail of the crochet work. When I'm wearing several garments the same color I like to put in lots of texture. (The old art teacher used to say "unity in variety". The color has unity and the texture throws in some variety.) Today I'm letting the landscape have all the flashy color.

I really needed a walk in these trees.

There's nothing like those early fall days, with crisp cold morning air and sunshine at the same time!

I was jonesing for fall last night, and this morning at my house it was snowing a little. I should be careful what I wish for!

p.s. Yes I did modify my shape quite a lot to fit this outfit. the mesh skirt and boots were made for thinner legs though they leave some nice tush. And the sculpted shrug is made for someone with rather smaller chest than my usual. :) Mwah!

TWEEDY GIRL

I love when an outfit can be feminine and comfy at the same time. ... These lovely Sea Hole jeans are decorated with painted purple flowers and some cute little denim ruffles.

I show the back side too cause I wanted you to notice the cute elbow patches on the jacket. They are an add-on layer from Alphavillain; the multipack includes several different suedes, leathers, plaids and tweeds you can layer over other jackets. Just love it over the Mon Tissu tweed.

And some soft little velvet flats with satin ribbon roses. Perfect.
