MISS MATCHED

I remember when I was a little kid, the way I would feel an instant attraction to certain things. I was unafraid to follow my magpie heart, so I could walk around in rainbow socks and a ballet tutu, with my pockets stuffed full of pebbles for my rock collection, an off-center ponytail tied with a couple of those bright hair-ties made of yarn. I shoved those plastic jewels on my fingers and pilfered my grandmother's fuchsia lipstick. I never worried once about whether anything matched or how I looked to anyone else.



I miss that. As much as I love a carefully chosen outfit, I have been feeling some restlessness and dissatisfaction in my Second Life, I think because I have not been feeding myself with enough creativity. As much positive feedback as I get from "normal" outfits, I think it's time I put more whimsy back in the mix. I need more whimsy. In both lives.

HELPLESS

The Curious Kitties Unreal Fuzz Shop sells the bits and bobs to make these cute little avatars. Much smaller than the smallest standard avatar, but not quite as small as the tiny fairy avatars you see about. The nice thing is, you can try the shape for not too much money. I purchased this lovely head with sparkly cheeks very inexpensively, while the bodies and a few pieces of starter clothing are available in the store for free. The hair was free, but I recolored it with a haircolor HUD that can be reused on many other Hairstyles in the Curious Kitties shop.



The Dress you can't exactly buy; I played the "Tumble Kitty" game in the store, and was awarded this tiny dress. But the texture was an odd kittycat print that wasn't my cup of tea, so experimentally I rezzed it on the ground at the sandbox, and retextured it. I could have added hands and boots, but I actually like the imcomplete look.

THE OBLIGATORY VALENTINE

I felt I should put together a cute little Valentines Day look, but I thought it would be more interesting if it were a little funky. So here is a retro-funk-seventies-inspired look with patent leather boots. I can have some fun with all the Pink, right?



Mister Larsson has a new Valentines Day inspired skin over in his VIP Room. The pouty lips are just luscious!! The fly outfit called for some dangly earrings. These earrings from Je Suis are one of my go-to sets because they are texture change with lots of colors for so many outfits. And some hot chunky bangles.

RETURN TO OMEGA POINT

I tried to be flattered that they were sending me to scout Location 459b but I'm not that good at lying to myself. The truth is that humans are prejudiced and machines are expendable. Expensive but expendable.

There is a certain amount of randomness in a portal window, and the first try landed me in some basement level or other.

Hard anticlimax. I spent the whole 21.3 minute window looking for a way out.

Not much use for the jet-equipped magnetic boots*. Or the microatomic power pack that looks like a skirt.

I brought a scouting drone and the headpiece has sonic analyzers and its own lighting. Yeah. At least the lights came in handy. My employer was pissed but it's not like he could blame me. We'll try again next year.

Go while you can.

I read the news that several of my favorite Rezzable sims are closing soon, including Crimson Shadow and Carnival of Doom. I ran off to see them again before they vanish ...

Before they go please also buy anything from the shops that you love. Many items are marked down to $50L. Someday we will look back at these items with the nostalgia that I hear when people talk about "Last Call" today.
