SNOWBIRD

It's quiet here ...

The snow crunching faintly while I climb up to get a good look round.

After her vacation this summer, Ms. Tiramisu came back with this lovely jacket. It looks for all the world as if she had painted its suede in watercolor and gouache. *love love*

BURNING

Lady Thera's Workshop specializes in gowns that are inspired by artworks. This one was inspired by the famous portrait of Empress Theodora, but wandering through her shop is a wonderland of Van Gogh, Dali, Magritte, Monet, Klimt ... even a few arty suits upstairs for the men.

I couldn't help myself. I went back to the Conflagration to dance. Have you been there yet? The builders wanted you to imagine what it would look like if you could go inside your inventory and look around at the digital art inside. This place burns with blue and golden fire, with lines and binary codes, symbols and sculpture and music. Somewhere beneath I even found a little club.

Not to be missed!

EVERLASTING

This field of flowers goes on, year after year.

The flower fields go on, but individual flowers do not.

This week I got to thinking about all the people places and things that I miss. People come and go as their priorities change, lovely and inspiring designers suddenly pack up shop and disappear, whole worlds vanish overnight and I wish I had visited them more often. Right now Ashoka Eales is having a closing sale for a few more days, and Phoenix Rising will vanish. I went poking through my inventory and stumbled over Kunstkammer, Armidi, Pacadi Jasha, ... The Nameless Isle, Templum Obscurum, Cu Mara, Nagare Island, and on and on. But I am not exactly sad ... People are going their own way, but I miss their art. Let me enjoy it while I can.

THE HANDMAID

Leaving the kitchen hearth to fetch some water from the well ...

Forgot my clogs, but I'll be more surefooted on the path.

I ran across the yoke back when Knickknack had a little cart at the Roleplay Market. I heard they opened a larger mainstore so I stopped by for a peek, and not only have they added some cute medieval-RP clothes, but more props next to the yoke .. a sweeping broom and a very nice animated washstand on which to wash your lord's tunics.

PICK-A-NICK

I ran across this sweet little picnic basket and stopped to think what a great idea that was. So I put down my book and hung my glasses on my necklace.

Hmm today is Saturday maybe I should dig the picnic basket out of my garage. The basket got me back in the mood for floaty spring clothes and a dose of cuteness.

About this hair: it's fabulous for photos but the long bits cut into my shoulders in a lot of poses. But hey I am a can-do kind of girl, so I made another copy of the hair and modified it to make all those long bits on the shoulders shorter, for everyday wear. Love it. <3

PERSPECTIVE

I went to the Alternative Fair expecting a romp through latex, tattoos and schtomper boots. But ... Frankly, I went to the Alternative Fair expecting less than Art. In my heart of snobby hearts, I don't call it Art unless it makes me think.

Take a long look at these glasses. ... (and imagine that my right lens is animated with the static of an off-the-air television screen) ...

Our ability to perceive distance, and understand three dimensional spatial perspective, relies mostly on binocular vision. Art can imitate depth of field using linear perspective, focus, by putting a grey haze in the distance of a landscape, but with only one point of view, our vision becomes flat. With one eye covered, does it matter how many windows or lenses I place in front of the other eye? Should I filter half of my vision through the static of a video screen or media opinions? Or should I give myself permission to see what I see?

Some people don't want to know what I see. I could make them happy by removing my head. I wouldn't see or think a thing. I couldn't speak. Would that work for you? ...

Me neither.
