NUTMEG

The weather is turning cooler and I'm so grateful. I put a wreath of colored leaves and pumpkins on my door, and I'm looking for sweaters and thicker socks. Maybe I'm going a little overboard with the layering.

The nutmeg and cinnamon and cloves are waiting for the mortar and pestle. But the pumpkin isn't in at the grocery quite yet.

Now I wanted to tell you about this MESH hair. It isn't my usual style. I like it because of how it is rigged to my head and shoulders. I chose poses that show how I can turn my head left and right, without the long bits going into my shoulders at all. The effect is a bit static, so they included an extra attachment with floaty flexi bits to make it flow more naturally. Of course the down side is that the wig can't be resized, or individual strands of hair adjusted. But it is well worth a look! <3

SIMPLY

There is a lot to be said for a simple classy dress. This one from Kunglers is perfectly crafted, and thoughtfully designed. I love that it can be dressed up or down ... it includes three belts: the moderately flashy gold belt I am wearing, a more conservative brown leather belt, and a bolder red one. Well done.

I matched it with these "Jaguar" print shoes from Pixel Mode to kick up the fun a bit. I am impressed with the quality of the shoes, and the scripted HUD. You really should go try some of these on, if you haven't already.

THE CHANGE OF SEASONS

Just stop and breathe. That's what I am doing this week.

But in between breaths, I made time to go see the Seasons Hunt like everyone else. :)

If you've seen all of these things before, that's all right. They're perfectly lovely anyway.

Most of this is from the Seasons Hunt, but not the shoes. ... For a couple of weeks I've been avoiding going to G Field because I wanted these shoes so bad. And not just one color either. You know how you see some things in Second Life and wish you could get them in Real Life? Yeah like that. Finally when I was in the mood for self-restraint, I went and bought them, only the two pairs in brown, and purple. Oy.

Sweater: Pig “There b Leaves on it T” (Seasons Hunt)
Dress and Corset: Ingenue “Highland Traveler” (Seasons Hunt)
Leafy in My Hand: Scribble “Seasons Hunt/Autumn Leaf” (Seasons Hunt)
Shoes: G Field “Square-toe Shoes ‘Sophie’” (color change piping and buckles)

Skin: Glance “Frieda”

STEAMPUNK STEPFORD

She's the perfect woman. Glowingly beautiful, poised and ladylike. Her conversation is the perfect balance between intelligence and wit, without being too intimidating for those of indifferent education. She makes every guest feel welcome and comfortable, and keeps trays of drinks and hors d'ouvres circulating throughout the room.

Maybe she's too perfect.

There is a strange gleam in her eye ...

(Take a closer look at this last picture to see the details of Frick's Clockwork Eyes ... they are from a gacha machine at this weekend's Bacchanal. At L$13 you can afford to get several colors. But this Bacchanal will be over Saturday night at Midnight.)

PERSPECTIVE

I went to the Alternative Fair expecting a romp through latex, tattoos and schtomper boots. But ... Frankly, I went to the Alternative Fair expecting less than Art. In my heart of snobby hearts, I don't call it Art unless it makes me think.

Take a long look at these glasses. ... (and imagine that my right lens is animated with the static of an off-the-air television screen) ...

Our ability to perceive distance, and understand three dimensional spatial perspective, relies mostly on binocular vision. Art can imitate depth of field using linear perspective, focus, by putting a grey haze in the distance of a landscape, but with only one point of view, our vision becomes flat. With one eye covered, does it matter how many windows or lenses I place in front of the other eye? Should I filter half of my vision through the static of a video screen or media opinions? Or should I give myself permission to see what I see?

Some people don't want to know what I see. I could make them happy by removing my head. I wouldn't see or think a thing. I couldn't speak. Would that work for you? ...

Me neither.
